Twitter users can now find out what is trending in 10 more UK cities after the social media site launched its Trends tool in 160 places worldwide, according to a Twitter blog post.

Bournemouth, Middlesbrough, Stoke-on-Trent, Coventry, Hull, Swansea, Preston, Blackpool, Plymouth and Derby will all have their own Trends lists with the most popular posts and phrases in each particular city.

The Twitter blog post read: "By viewing Trends in these cities, it's easier than ever before to find out what's going on in your area and to get involved in the conversations. You can browse any of these locations by clicking "Change" in the Trends sidebar at Twitter.com.

"Regional Trends give you a great flavour of what's happening in different parts of the UK."

Last December, Twitter launched trending for Belfast, Brighton, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Nottingham, Portsmouth and Sheffield.

Before then, people on the social media site could only see city specific UK trends in Birmingham, Glasgow, London, and Manchester.

Several countries will have Trends for the first time from today, including Belgium, Greece, Kenya, Norway, Poland, Portugal, and Ukraine.

On March 21, the social media site, which has more than 200 million active users worldwide, celebrated its seven-year anniversary.
